Happy Pride Month!

Happy Pride Month, Witches!

The ATC has always been diligent on making sure we are inclusive and open to all to come worship the God and Goddess, and we will absolutely continue to do so.

Wicca is still a new religion, and it is growing rapidly. Naturally, that would come with growing pains. There are Wiccan groups that still adhere to traditional gender roles, mostly for energy’s sake. Male vs Female energy is a very polarized view of the energy in the world, and we tend to look at it differently.

We use Receptive vs Projective energy instead of male/female. Female energy is inherently receptive (the vagina is inside the body!) and Male energy is inherently projective (I know you can guess this one). Just because you have one of these body parts and were born with a certain body part does not make you projective or receptive. We all live in a balance though, we do not merely live on one end of the spectrum – we all are fluid beings, going with the flow of the earth, following the earth’s cycles.

In the ATC Tradition, when there are roles that call for projective or receptive energy, we let you choose which one you are going to emanate. Being able to switch roles for rituals is a great skill – because let’s be honest, we’re a little short on men.

It’s also important to step out of our own realities and see the world through different lenses. Being able to work with both projective and receptive energy is incredibly important to balancing ourselves and the energies in this world. This concept is demonstrated through so many of our principles – yin and yang, as above so below, as within so without! We cannot live on one side of the pendulum, we must swing, experience both sides, before we can settle in the middle.

So this pride month, take the time to experience the other side – work with that opposite energy of yours, let Goddess and God teach you their experiences and absorb them into your practice.

And most of all, listen. Listen to those who have things to teach you. In the words of our ArchPriestess Belladonna LaVeau: “Speak little, listen much.” You will learn more than you will know if you simply listen to those who have different experiences and views of the world.

Merry Meet, and Blessed Be!
