Heathens Against Hate will be presenting the “Striving to Save a Religious Identity from Extremists,” panel at the 2018 Parliament of Toronto, Canada.
In this panel discussion, leaders of HAH and the Heathen community will discuss some of the challenges the community faces and what initiatives HAH is undertaking to combat bigotry and racism in Heathenry. Speakers will be Troth Steer and Elderer Ziewer (High Priest) of Distelfink Sippschaft Robert Schreiwer, Heathen Interfaith minister and instructor at the School of Sacred Ministries Brian Weiss, Heathens Against Hate Administrator Eric Thorpe-Moscon, and Heathens Against Hate Public Relations Officer Ethan Stark.
Founded in 2008, Heathens Against Hate (HAH) became a community outreach effort by The Troth in 2017, which is one of the largest international Heathen organizations. Heathenry faces challenges as extremist elements dominate news coverage. HAH serves as practical resource to stand against hate, racism, homophobia, bigotry, etc. within Heathenry. Because bigotry and hatred know no borders or boundaries, their messages are not targeted to any one country, ethnic/racial identity, or sexual/gender identity. HAH work to educate Heathens and non-Heathens on the differences between commonly-held Heathen beliefs and extremism, to advocate for inclusivity and dialogue that promotes better communication among Heathen groups and wider society.
" Striving to Save a Religious Identity from Extremists ” is scheduled for Sunday, November 4th, 2018, at 3:15pm.
