Interview With The Pythia

Bella Dionne • March 7, 2018

1. What is your deity's name, and what concepts of the human condition do they represent?

I hold the Pythia, who is not a deity. They represent freedom of spirit, introspection, and psychics.

2. Give a brief description of your god's backstory. How were they born/created? Who are they married to?

The Pythia is the Priestess of Apollo, and They used to be human. In Greece, a young lady would be chosen to praise the Lord Apollo and deliver premonitions to pilgrims. People would line up for miles to meet with the Pythia. Over the ages, the spirits of Pythia oracles became a collective that lend their experiences to current oracles.

3. What is something about your deity that most people don't know?

The Pythia spirits aren’t limited to ancient Greece. Some of the spirits come from modern times, and when they were alive, they had no idea that they were oracles. Some have sad histories of misdiagnosis of schizophrenia, or other mental illnesses.

4. What's something unique you've learned from working with them this year?

In the past, I have had psychic experiences. It wasn’t until this year that my abilities have been kicked into gear. I know that no matter how crazy the premonition seems, I write it down, and try to see what could make sense. Symbolism is really important.

5. If you were to spend a day with your deity, what activities would do? How would they react to those mortal activities?

On that day, I would take the Pythia to an outdoor concert. Rock ballads are very popular, as well as hip-hop. We would wear comfortable clothes, and eat pounds of gumbo. They would not like the noise of traffic, but once music starts playing, then all is better.
