[The Moon is Bright]

Sarah Rowan • October 13, 2021

A poem by Sarah Rowan

The Moon is bright
like a beacon
of hope long gone.
Artemis sits
and watches as
the night lightens
and mourns because
the Earth is dying
and no one runs
and no one plays
with the brown deer
anymore now
anymore now.
The Moon is bright
as the Earth fades.
