Freya's Necklace
A Poem by Brenna Grace
Freya set off dreaming of gold,
winging her hips out into the cold.
Loki followed her and thought “What has made her so bold?”
Deep inside a cave, four dwarves worked.
Freya saw their crafts, and at one, she perked.
Dripping with Amber, golden and curved,
The light caught every perfect angle when it swerved.
This necklace was one Freya knew she deserved.
Freya offered gold and silver and coins,
The dwarves wanted none of it – they wanted her loins.
Freya needed this necklace, and although she fought.
She agreed to sleep with each dwarf and give it a shot.
Although they were ugly, the necklace is worth it, she thought.
Alfrigg she laid first, Followed by the biggest, Berling.
Dvalin was third and Grerr was last, her head was left swirling.
Happy with her necklace, she traveled the Bifrost
When Loki told Odin, Odin felt he’d been crossed.
“Loki, I demand you get the necklace, at any cost!”
Loki turned into a fly and snuck into Sessrumnir
He smartly removed the necklace and made quick to disappear.
The next morning came and Freya slowly awoke.
She found her necklace missing, and she knew only one bloke
Would be foolish enough to make Loki plan and perform this “joke.”
Odin was angry that Freya debased their kind.
Freya was furious, and gave him a piece of her mind.
Odin wanted Bloodshed, he told Freya “Start a war!
Use your god-strength, I want blood and gore!”
Freya scoffed, “Who do you think I am, Thor?!”
Odin thought hard and to Freya he said:
“Pit kings against one another, that should bring bloodshed.”
Freya looked at Odin, and gave him a smirk.
She quickly leaned into Odin, making him jerk,
“Give me my necklace, and I can make that work.”
